Mobility Scooters Content
To enjoy the extra freedom your Mobility Scooter offers it is important to keep yourself safe. Following the basic highway-code rules for mobility scooters and invalid carriages reduces any risk in using all types of mobility or disability powered products.

Ten Tips for Safer Driving:

  • Take care when you cannot see ahead, such as when you are approaching a corner or when a wall or hedge is restricting your view.
  • Always look out for pedestrians or other road users. Pedestrians may not have seen or heard you.
  • Avoid running into anyone or causing any damage with your Mobility Scooter by maintaining control at all times.
  • Wearing a florescent tabard increases your visibility to other road users.
  • Avoid busy roads that are not suitable for Invalid or Mobility Equipment.
  • When passing parked vehicles look out for doors opening, similarly when passing shop or house doorways look out for pedestrians exiting.
  • Give way to pedestrians on crossings.
  • Always obey traffic lights and other road signals, signs and instructions.
  • Keep to the left when driving on roads.
  • When turning right it is safer to turn onto a pavement and use a pedestrian crossing to cross the road.

Mobility Scooters and Electric Wheelchairs are a great way of getting about when mobility or disability problems effect your movement. There are numerous mobility products on the market that can help in keeping you mobile, whichever one you choose use safely to stay safe.
