Find bathing easier with the Days 536 Rotating Bath Seat

Saturday, March 6th, 2010

If you ever find getting into the bath tricky, especially with the slippery surface making it more difficult to find purchase on, the Days 536 Rotating Bath Seat is bound to help you.

With its easy to use locking system, you will be able to get in and out of the bath much easier than before. It rotates around 360 degrees, locking at each 90 degree intervals.

The bath seat is one of the many disability living aids on the market. It has an ergonomically formed seat and backrest for comfort as well as aesthetic value. The Days 536 Rotating Bath Seat is easy to clean and is hygienic. It is slimline, for easy handling and is very easy to dismantle. This way you can store it away if you need to, without it becoming a hassle to assemble and dismantle.

The rotation mechanism doesn’t require any maintenance, by way of cleaning, oiling or greasing.

All you need to do, once the bath seat is installed, is rotate it so that the chair is facing the side of the bath, and sit in carefully. Then lift the locking lever and slowly turn yourself around, lifting one leg at a time into the bath then release the locking lever. Repeat this process backwards to exit the bath.

The Days 110 Bariatric Heavy Duty Walker can perfectly accommodate your needs

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

A walker or rollator is a lightweight and affordable alternative to mobility scooters and power chairs, and is perfect for those who only need a little extra help getting around. Although rollators are designed to give you support when walking, not all models, and especially not cheap brands, are not adequate enough to accommodate users of all shapes and sizes.

This said, there are some manufacturers producing high-quality, functional walkers at a reasonable price; you just have to buy from a trusted and reliable brand.

The Days 110 Bariatric Heavy Duty Walker is a great example of this kind of product. It has loads of amazing features, such as:

Locking loop brakes for your safety
Padded seat and backrest
Adjustable height handles

This last feature in particular demonstrates how the Days 110 Bariatric walker is designed with the individual needs of users in mind. The walker is heavy-duty and has a weight capacity of 28 stone, although you wouldn’t think so from the lightweight and compact frame. In addition to the excellent levels of stability, the Days 110 Bariatric rollator is fully transportable and comes in an extremely stylish design.

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

As mobility devices such as wheelchairs, power chairs, and mobility scooters have quickly become an essential part of many people’s daily lives, it makes sense that you would want to adapt them to suit your day-to-day needs. Although they are frequently used in the home, most people use mobility devices to get out and about for excursions and shopping trips.

Luckily, there a wide range of accessories you can choose from to fully kit out your mobility scooter or power chair ready for shopping trips or any other activities. The most popular of these is bags and other storage options.

Bags for mobility scooters
You can get bags for your mobility device in all shapes and sizes. You can choose from:

• Handy and portable mini mobility bags that can be easily accessed at all times. These stylish accessories are perfect for those with on-the-go lifestyles who also use smaller mobility devices.
• Full-size mobility scooter bags that fit neatly onto the headrests of mobility scooters and powerchairs , the frames of rollators or the push handles of standard wheelchairs

Other storage options
Thanks to some innovative thinking, you can now buy crutch/walking stick holders and bags. These can either be used on their own for travelling purposes or you can fit them neatly onto wheelchairs, mobility scooters and powerchairs to keep crutches or walking sticks out of the way until you need to use them.

Newport police fit mobility aids with safety alarms

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

In a trial scheme which could turn out to be beneficial for mobility aid users in the rest of the country, police in Newport have been fitting walking sticks, mobility scooters and wheelchairs with personal safety alarms.

The alarms can be discreetly fitted to mobility aids, giving off a high-pitched sound when a button is pushed by the user. Around 400 of these alarms have been fitted so far, and feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with users reporting that they feel safer when on the streets.

The Newport City Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team believe that because these new alarms can be fitted directly onto mobility devices rather than being handheld is the reason behind their success. Knowing that the alarm is with them and to hand at all times leaves users feeling reassured.

PC Dave Castree from nearby Gwent has said that he believes these alarms will give users more confidence when venturing out and about in their neighbourhoods. He says the idea for the alarm came from discussions with mobility aid users in the locality, who didn’t previously know what course of action they would take if they were attacked or threatened.
